In a cricket match, the least number of deliveries it would take a batsman to score a century is 17. Believe it or not, but yes, Wriddhiman Saha has just scored a hundred off 20 balls.
On Saturday, the wicket-keeper batsman warmed up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in stunning fashion. While playing a club match in Kolkata, Saha bulldozed his way to 102 runs in merely 20 balls.
The T20 match was part of the JC Mukherjee Trophy in Kalighat. Saha turned up for Mohun Bagan to take on BNR Recreation Club.
His side restricted their opposition to 151 for 7 in 20 overs. While everyone on the ground would’ve fancied Bagan to chase down the moderate total with ease – what with an international player in their ranks – no one could’ve predicted what was to follow.
Saha, who opened the innings for Bagan, went berserk from the very first ball. He blasted 14 sixes and 4 boundaries en route a 20 ball century. His innings of 102 not-out came at a jaw-dropping strike-rate of 510.
Bagan won the match by 10 wickets in just seven overs, with Saha’s opening partner Abhishek Das making 32 runs off 28 deliveries.
After his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Saha will be seen playing under David Warner for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 11th edition of IPL.
