Kings XI Punjab franchise is enjoying the flying start in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have registered four wins in five games so far. Their performances have been marked by some fine displays with the bat and one of the stars that has stood out is opening batsman KL Rahul, who has scored 213 runs in five matches, which includes the fastest 50 in IPL history in 14 balls that came against the Delhi Daredevils.
He also impressed in his latest knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 60 runs in just 27 balls.
After the match, he was seen in a video speaking to teammate Karun Nair, where he began by saying ‘Ee sala cup namdhe (ESCN) guru’, which means ‘this year, the cup will be ours’. Interestingly, this is a cheeky reference to his former team Royal Challengers Bangalore, whose fans started the ‘ESCN’ chant for their team.

And what has been a strong revelation at the very start of this IPL season is Chris Gayle’s blistering form in all the three wins of KXIP, which also included an unbeaten 104 against SRH amid Rahul’s usual stronghold in T20s.
With Gayle’s ongoing blitzkrieg this season, fans have already begun trolling RCB for letting go of the veteran. Gayle had in fact gone unsold twice at the mega-auction in January before Virender Sehwag ‘saved IPL by picking’ him at his base price of INR 2 crores.
