After India cricket legend, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been conferred with the third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan, Indian women cricket team’s captain Mithali Raj has congratulated the prominent professional, for scaling heights in the gentleman’s game.
In September 2017, the astute thinker Dhoni was nominated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the prestigious award.
Interestingly, Dhoni received the honour on the same day when he clinched the ICC World Cup 2011 title with a memorable six against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This is surely a very proud moment for every Indian: Mithali
Dhoni was awarded the respectable honour because of his extraordinary and splendid contribution to Indian cricket in his entire cricketing career so far. He has marked many astonishing landmarks in his captaincy career and the three ICC Trophies which India has won under his leadership are some of the evident symbols of his supremacy as Dhoni is one the finest captains in the history of the game.
Mithali feels that the former Indian captain absolutely deserved this honour and this should be a very proud moment for every Indian and not just the sporting fraternity.
“Congratulations @msdhoni – truly well deserved. A proud moment not just for the sports fraternity, one for every Indian. Heartwarming”, Mithali wrote on Twitter.
