Despite MS Dhoni smashing his highest T20 score, it was Ravichandran Ashwin’s ‘unpredictable’ tactics that made the difference in KXIP’s win over CSK at Mohali on Sunday.
Nevertheless, Dhoni was the star of the night whacking a 44-ball 79 despite hurting his back in a massive run chase. And one key moment in his innings was his one-handed six off Andrew Tye.
It was the final delivery of the 19th over. Tye delivered a low full toss, placing it just outside off and that tempted Dhoni to swing the willow hard and dispatch the ball high over deep square for a six.

Earlier, Chris Gayle thumped his return to the IPL season 11 with a blazing 33-ball 63 after KXIP were put to bat first. The Universe Boss’ powerful hitting was enough to take the home side to a massive 197 for seven at the end of 20 overs. Eyeing a massive total, CSK lost two wickets within the powerplay with just 39 runs onboard.
Ambati Rayudu (49) and Dhoni did try their best to steer CSK past 198 but fell short in the final over as KXIP won by just four runs.
