Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya produced a moment to remember in his side’s match against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday as he struck a powerful straight drive in the penultimate over of the innings that nearly struck the umpire Rod Tucker, who had to duck to his right in order to save himself.
This all happened on the third ball of the 19th over during first innings. Pandya was up against the fiery pace of Jofra Archer and received a juicy half-volley, which he smacked straight back past the bowler for four. It was hit ferociously and such was the pace that umpire had to dive and duck or he would have been struck dangerously.
The commentator praised Tucker for his quick thinking and reflexes as he got up smilingly and delivered the signal for the boundary.
