Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended the league stage with a comfortable five-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday. The result benefitted Rajasthan Royals as the former champions booked the fourth and final spot in the playoffs.
Kings XI, who needed to win by at least 53 runs to qualify for the next stage, ended their campaign with eighth defeat to finish at lowly seventh in the standings. While CSK finished second in the table and will play table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
