Chris Gayle scored the most number of runs for his team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in an IPL encounter against Mumbai Indians on Friday night.
The ‘Universe Boss’ added another half-century to his IPL career; scoring 50 runs from 40 deliveries.
To everyone’s surprise, Gayle hit only 2 sixes in his innings compared to 6 fours. However, the two sixes he struck had raw power. His first six came in the last over of the powerplay off Mitchell McClenaghan.
The Kiwi pacer bowled a short delivery to Gayle who backed into the crease and struck it over square leg boundary for a maximum. The ball ended up on the roof of Holker stadium and the umpires had to ask for a new ball to get the match to resume.
KXIP’s co-owner Preity Zinta was also spotted applauding the powerful strike by Gayle (92 meters) which went out of the stadium.
