In pursuit of 178, Shubman Gill scored his maiden IPL fifty to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to a comfortable six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.
Gill, who played a big role in India’s triumph at the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year, reached his half-century off 32 balls and became the fourth youngest to score an IPL fifty.
During his top-class unbeaten knock (57 off 36 balls), Shubman Gill also smacked Shane Watson for a superb shot on the leg-side.
KKR team co-owner Juhi Chawla was in awe while watching Gill’s batting. She applauded each and every shot of the KKR batsmen and was spotted clapping, smiling to Gill’s slap on the leg-side off Watson’s bowling.
