On Thursday, England skipper Joe Root won the toss on a bright sunny morning at the Ageas Bowl and elected to bat first. In the first session of play, the Indian seamers who ran riot on the English top order.
Jasprit Bumrah got rid of opener Keaton Jennings with a beauty that came back sharply resulting in a plumb LBW. Then, Ishant Sharma picked the wicket of Root on a ripper.
Joe Root is the best batsman in the English side but he was never allowed to settle by the Indian pacers from the very first ball. Bumrah was right on the money and almost picked Root’s wicket, but the youngster’s no-ball came to haunt him again depriving him of the biggest scalp. But soon Ishant Sharma bowled a beauty to trap Root infront of the stumps.
