In the Group A league match of the ongoing Asia Cup in Dubai, Pakistan’s right-handed batsman Shoaib Malik was batting pretty well and looked set to score big in the important clash against India.
During the 27th over of first innings, Asif Ali tapped the ball towards cover-point to steal a quick single. Responding to Ali’s call, Malik charged towards the other end. It was then when India’s Ambati Rayudu attacked the ball, picked it up and hit the bull’s eye at the bowler’s end as Shoaib was trying to make his ground.
The direct hit was referred upstairs and Malik was caught well short of his ground. The TV replays showed that Malik was lazy to go back too which eventually cost him his wicket.
