Australian cricketers name Virat Kohli as world’s best batsman

The debate about the world’s best batsman is a never ending one. However, when one is asked about the best contemporary batsman, there are no second thoughts about it. Virat Kohli is the undoubtedly number one batsman at the moment and no one would dare of contradicting the same. The 29-year-old has been unbelievably consistent in all the formats from last few years.

His records are just mind-boggling and there are often comparisons made with the likes of Sir Viv Richards and Sachin Tendulkar. The Indian captain, on Wednesday, completed 10,000 runs in ODI cricket during the match against the Windies in Vizag. He scored all these runs in just 205 innings, the fastest batsman to do so.

Ricky Ponting justifies why Virat Kohli is the best

Former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting, when asked about the best batsman in the world at the moment, had no hesitations in naming Virat Kohli.

“Best player in the world right now, in my opinion, is Virat Kohli. Just his all-round skills across all three formats,” he said.

Also, women cricketers Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani, former opener and current Aussie coach Justin Langer, Brad Hodge, Andy Maher, Tim Paine opined the same. The only person who had second thoughts about it was James Brayshaw. He said that Virat is the best batsman, but only in Steve Smith’s absence.
