A batting masterclass from captain Virat Kohli and a typical century from Rohit Sharma helped India chase down 323 with ridiculous ease against Windies in the first ODI of the five-match series in Guwahati.
Kohli scored 140 while Rohit remained unbeaten on 152 as India took a 1-0 lead at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing 323, India made 326/2 in 42.1 overs.
The Windies batsmen did well to post a challenging total of 323/8, thanks to a sensational knock from Shimron Hetmyer (106 off 78 balls) but Kohli, Rohit made a mockery of the Windies bowlers to make a big chase look easy in home conditions.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the Kohli-Rohit show:
Congratulations Team India on a comprehensive victory. Kohli’s hunger and consistency is extraordinary and Rohit Sharma is all class, a treat to watch for the wonderful crowd in Guwahati #IndvWI pic.twitter.com/BP2yGSkFuR

Watching @imVkohli and @ImRo45 at the crease makes batting look so effortless; but I know hard these 2 players work at their game #masterclass @BCCI #INDvWI

This innings by Team India can serve as a tutorial of how to chase big targets in ODIs and who better to teach it than the master @imVkohli himself. A big hundred by @ImRo45 too to guide India home. Congrats to both. Clinical stuff. #INDvWI

Indian cricket so fortunate to have one batsman every generation since the 70s to have extra ordinary ability and insatiable hunger for runs. Virat is one for this generation.
