Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both hit centuries and combined in a stand of 246 to help India chase down a mammoth target of 323 against West Indies for a convincing eight-wicket victory in the first ODI in Guwahati on Sunday.
During his knock of 152 runs off 117 balls, Rohit overhauled Indian batting legend Sachin and beleaguered Aussie cricketer David Warner to score most 150-plus scores in ODIs. Rohit has six such knocks to his name as against Sachin and Warner’s five.
While reaching the Windies target, Rohit also played a shot which even amazed his partner Virat Kohli.
On the 5th delivery of 9th over in India’s innings, the Windies pacer Kemar Roach bowled a fullish delivery on middle and leg, not a really bad ball. But such is Rohit’s talent that he nonchalantly flicked from within the stump line towards backward square leg without moving his front foot much.
