ICC WWT20 2018: With the Semi-finalists confirmed, will it be the 4th championship for the Kangaroos women?

After witnessing 11 days of spectacular cricket, we now have the top 4 teams to qualify for the semi-finals.

In “Group A”, it’s the home team Windies and the first-time tournament winner England. Beating England by 4 wickets in their last group match, the host team ended on the top of the points table in Group A.

Talking about “Group B”, it’s the three-time champion Australia and women in blue India. In their last group match, India defeated Australia by 48 runs moving at the top in “Group B” in the points table. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana was awarded the “Player of the Match” for her knock of 83 runs in 55 balls (3 sixes and 9 fours).

Both the Semi-finals are on 22nd November, with the Semi-final 1 between Australia and Windies women, the top team in Group A. India would be playing against England Women, who came second in Group A in the points table.

Predictions and Odds:

Australian women have been the favorites throughout the tournament. They have qualified for the finals in the last 4 tournaments, winning the championship thrice. The Kangaroos Women were defeated by Windies in the finals in 2016.

Premium Cricket has written a good cricket betting prediction about the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 winner, and we very much agree with their conclusion.

But there is some bad news from the Australian camp, due to the injury of their star player Alyssa Healy in the last group match against India, it is doubtful if she will be available in the semi-final. The Australian wicketkeeper-batsman had to leave the field as she collided with Schutt towards the end of the Indian inning. She was unable to come out to bat during Australia’s inning.

Healy has been the top scorer for Australia in the tournament (48 runs in the 1st match, 53 runs in the 2nd match, 56 runs in the 3rd match), winning “Player of the Match” in the first three group matches. If she is not able to recover by the semi-final, it might be a big loss for the Australian team.

Looking at other players, both Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning have scored runs with Ellyse Perry helping the team with her all-rounder performance. On the bowling front, Megan Schutt and Delissa Kimmince have led the charge. The team’s performance has been solid, with the fielding and catching on the mark.

England, on the other hand, will be looking to win their first title. They defeated India in the ICC champions trophy last year and can be considered as the second favorites.

The Windies, playing in the home country would like to defend the title. The skipper, Stafanie Taylor has been amazing and the team can provide a serious challenge to their opposition.

With Harmanpreet Kaur leading the side, the Indian team has been playing some fierce cricket lately. The aggression can be seen in the field, with Kaur, Mithali Raj, and Smriti Mandhana hitting big knocks in the group matches. 2nd in ICC Bowling rankings, Poonam Yadav has been magical with the ball picking up 8 wickets in the tournament so far. The Indian team will be looking to take home their first major ICC championship and winning all the matches so far in the tournament, they are riding high on confidence.
