Teenager Prithvi Shaw, who had missed the first two Tests against Australia due to injury, has now been ruled out of the remaining series.
Mayank Agarwal has been called up as his replacement, while seam-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been added to the squad.
Shaw sustained his injury while fielding during a warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI. He hurt his ankle while attempting a catch near the boundary rope.
Meanwhile, Shaw’s replacement, Mayank Agarwal, is yet to make his Test debut but is experienced at the domestic level. He averages 50.30 in first-class cricket, with the highest score of 304 not out. He also struck a half-century in his recent innings for Karnataka in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
Pandya, who had been sidelined with a back injury sustained during the Asia Cup 2018, proved his fitness and form in the recent Ranji Trophy round, claiming first-innings figures of 5-81 and scoring 73 for Baroda against Mumbai.
