WATCH: Virat Kohli plays a glorious extra cover drive off Pat Cummins

The second Test between Australia and India remains tantalizingly poised after tremendous resistance with the bat from the tourists’ talisman, Virat Kohli.

At stumps, Kohli was unbeaten on 82, alongside Ajinkya Rahane (51 not out), with India 172/3, trailing by 154 after dismissing Australia for 326 in the first innings.

The Indian skipper looked in ominous form when he came out to bat on Day 2 of the Perth Test. Kohli had a rare failure in the previous Test match played at the Adelaide Oval. He was determined to make amends for it and on Saturday, he looked in supreme touch. Kohli joined Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle after openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul were dismissed early by the Aussie pacers.

After Kohli had his eyes set, he played some delightful shots and the best of the lot was arguably the four he hit off Pat Cummin’s bowling in the 62nd over. The Australian speedster bowled a fuller and wider delivery. The ball was there to be hit and Kohli duly obliged as he unveiled a stunning drive through extra cover.

It was slightly overpitched and with an open space on the off-side, it was an invitation for Kohli who likes to stamp his authority on the bowler with a drive. He has perfected it so much so that most people haven’t seen someone do it better than this man.
