India elected to bat after winning the toss against Australia at the MCG in Melbourne on one of the most anticipated dates in the year, the Boxing Day.
The visitors started their first innings on a confident note with the new opening pair, Mayank Agarwal and Hanuma Vihari providing a good foundation.
But Vihari was undone by a nasty bouncer from the Australian pacer Pat Cummins.
On the third ball of the 12th over, Cummins produced a snorter to hit Vihari on the helmet. The Indian opener got lengthy medical attention from team physio, Patrick Farhart.
