Anil Kumble gets his prediction spot on as India beat Australia 2-1 in the Test series

Former Indian Test captain and head coach Anil Kumble is being called the ‘Paul the Octopus’ on social media and we couldn’t agree more.

Virat Kohli-led Team India scripted history on Monday after they became the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia.

The historic 2-1 Test series victory over Australia was celebrated by the India team, who broke into the “Pujara dance” at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in front of their fans.

But even before Team India lifted the coveted Border-Gavaskar trophy, India’s former legend Anil Kumble had predicted the results of the series in an exclusive interaction with CricketNext back in November.

In an interview with Gaurav Kalra, dated November 26, 2018, Kumble was asked to make his prediction for the series.

Not only was Kumble correct with a 2-1 scoreline but also gave an insight on how bad weather and rain could play a role in the series which would see a draw – as it emerged in Sydney.

Just as he predicted, the fourth Test ended in a draw as rain played spoilsport on the last two days and allowed India to seal the victory by a 2-1 margin.

As for the Twitterati, everyone was all praises for Jumbo’s “magical powers.”
