BCCI showers cash rewards on Indian team for their historic Test series win in Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday showered huge cash rewards on the Indian team for posting historic Test series triumph over the Aussies in Australia.

The cash prizes will also be given to the coaches and support staff who were a part of the Indian contingent during the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which the tourists won 2-1.

BCCI has announced cash rewards of ₹15 lakhs per match for the players who were in the playing XI and ₹7.5 lakhs per match for the players who were in the reserve squad.

Meanwhile, the coaches will receive ₹25 lakhs each and the support staff (non-coaching) will receive bonuses equivalent to their pro-rata salary/professional fee.

The players who featured in all four Test matches will benefit the most and are likely to pocket the highest amount. Captain Virat Kohli along with the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant are some of the players who played all four Test matches and will be bagging the highest amount.

India scripted history by winning the first-ever Test series on the Australian soil. Next, India and Australia are slated to play a three-match ODI series beginning January 12 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
