David Warner controversially dismissed on Bangladesh Premier League debut

David Warner’s stint in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) started with a disastrous run-out in Dhaka on Sunday.

Warner, captaining the Sylhet Sixers in their tournament opener against Comilla Victorians, was found short of his ground on 14. His dismissal came after a terrible mix-up with batting partner Towhid Hridoy.

Warner and Hridoy, who was later dismissed for 8 when Victorians’ captain Steve Smith reviewed an lbw shout from Shahid Afridi, both ended up at the striker’s end.

The bails were dislodged at the non-striker’s end, with the third umpire left to review the run-out decision and assess who among Warner and Hridoy should be given out.

It turned out to be a controversial decision as the TV footage proved that Warner made his ground first.
