Hardik Pandya has made his first public appearance since being banned for his controversial comments on celebrity talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’.
The suspended India all-rounder was spotted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai on Saturday.
Hardik appeared on the show with teammate KL Rahul, who was also suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), pending an inquiry. Both of them missed the three-match ODI series against Australia, which India won on Friday night, and are also set to miss out on the limited-overs series in New Zealand later this month.
Hardik was clicked along with brother and fellow India cricketer Krunal, as the duo made their way into the Mumbai airport.
The statements made on ‘Koffee With Karan’ not only cost him his place from the Indian team but also Hardik lost Gillette as a sponsor. Even Khar Gymkhana who had given him an honorary membership, was also taken back.
However, after the controversy, many players including Sourav Ganguly said that the matter should not be taken too far. “People make mistakes, let’s not go too far here. I am sure, .. whoever has done it will realise and come out a better person,” former Indian Test captain Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying.
The BCCI has now asked the Supreme Court to appoint an ombudsman to look into the matter further.
