Yuzvendra Chahal opened his 2019 account with a six wicket-haul in his first match of the year, spinning his way through the Australian batting line-up in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
He also went to create a few records and registered a career best figure in ODI cricket.
Chahal matched Ajit Agarkar’s 6-42 during 2004 tri-series to record the joint best-ever ODI figures on Australian soil.
In doing so, he also improved on his previous best of 5-22 against South Africa at Centurion in January 2018.
Coming to bowl in the 24th over, Yuzi picked up two wickets straightaway in the name of Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja.
Later, the leg-spinner got the scalp of Marcus Stoinis. The Aussie all-rounder found an edge, and an excellent catch at the first slip by Rohit Sharma saw him getting dismissed.
The leggie got the big fish, Peter Handscomb plumb in front of the wickets as well. Further, Chahal ran through the tail, getting the wickets of Jhye Richardson and Adam Zampa.
