Indian cricket’s new jersey for the men’s and women’s team was unveiled on Friday at the Rajiv Gandhi cricket stadium in Hyderabad in the presence of official apparel partner Nike.
The announcement was made on the eve of the start to the five-match ODI series between Men in Blue and the Aussies in the city. Team India will be seen donning the jersey during the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Indian captain Virat Kohli was present at the launch ceremony alongside MS Dhoni, Prithvi Shaw, and Ajinkya Rahane. Women cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues were present for the ceremony as well.
Well, there has been only a few changes in the new jersey. The colour of the collar area went from orange to blue and it has the dates of India’s 1983 World Cup win, the T20 World Cup win in 2007 and the 2011 World Cup win mentioned below the back collar. The colour of the body portion changed from sky blue to a little darker, while the shoulder portion turned sky blue. And, the tri-colour strip near the shoulder portion has been removed. Rest – the Nike symbol, BCCI logo and ‘India’ – holds its position.

“This (three stars) always remind you of the great legacy that we have got. And it is not only this. Beyond that also we had bilateral series and playing cricket in a way we have reached number one ranking in each and every format. These are all motivational factor and whenever you look at them you get motivated to give that extra 10-15 percent,” Dhoni said at the launch.
