With the technology available for every minutest detail of the game, a truly classic encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) ended on a sour note with the on-field umpire failing to call a no-ball off Lasith Malinga in the last ball of the match.
RCB needed seven runs to win off the final delivery but failed to do so. A fuming Virat Kohli called the incident ridiculous. The match was played at RCB’s home – M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.
However, outside of the controversial end of the game, if there was even a sliver of doubt whether Jasprit Bumrah is the world’s No. 1 bowler, he dispelled any such thoughts with an exceptional bowling performance in the death overs to steal a win for Mumbai Indians.
Here’s how the cricketing world reacted to the match:
Oh that no ball…

In an era of so much technology and with so much at stake NO BALLS should never ever be missed …. #JustSaying #IPL2019
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) March 28, 2019
Technology should be used much more often in cricket … so many front foot no-balls missed all the time in all formats and only checked on dismissal. Should be as simple as 3rd umpire telling the umpire through ear piece that a no ball has been bowled.

It would have been better if Shivam Dube was out on the last ball, seems like that is the only way umpires would have checked the #noball

Spot on by Virat, that last ball blunder is unacceptable. quite possibly could have changed the result #RCBvMI

What did just happened! Such a big error… could have changed the game… #noball #umpires #ridiculous #RCBvMI #VIVOIPL

Malinga’s last ball was a no-ball….BIG one. Umpire missed it. Colossal error. Unbelievable. #RCBvMI #IPL
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) March 28, 2019
Kohli was livid over the no-ball that wasn’t called off the last delivery. But as Rohit pointed out, #MI also suffered when a Bumrah delivery was declared a wide when it wasn’t. Shoddy umpiring overall.

in this case the batsman was behind the crease and the bowler's foot was beyond it #RCBvMI

Lasith Malinga bowled a clear front foot no-ball but umpires failed to notice it on the last ball.

They have to sort this out somehow. Difference between a win or a loss.

#RCB captain Virat Kohli on the no ball of the last ball that was missed by the umpire: "We are playing at the IPL level, it's not club level, the umpires should have their eyes open. That was a big no ball."#RCBvMI #IPL2019

Whenever there is trouble, eyes move towards Bumrah. And he always delivers. This time the pupil lead the way and the master (Malinga) held his nerve

This is the first time AB de Villiers has remained not out in an unsuccessful chase in IPL!
Before this, he was not out 15 times and every time his team won. #RCBvMI #IPL2019
