It has not been a great start for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rohit Sharma-led team has so far won just one game out of three.
Moreover, Rohit has been fined Rs. 12 lakh for his side’s slow-over rate in the match against Kings XI Punjab on Saturday (March 30).
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season, under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh,” said an IPL media release.
The match in Mohali saw MI succumb to their second loss of the season. Rohit’s side scored 176 from their 20 overs, a total that was surpassed by Ravichandran Ashwin’s side in the 19th over with eight wickets still in hand.
The game, starting at 4 PM (IST) stretched beyond the stipulated 7:30 PM (IST) before the home side knocked off the winning runs.
