IPL 2019: Ricky Ponting shows ‘Spirit of the Game’ by diffusing tension between Shane Watson and Kagiso Rabada; here’s the video

On Tuesday evening, Chennai Super Kings registered their second victory of the tournament by comfortably defeating Delhi Capitals at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

During the CSK’s inning, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson had a bit of banter with pacer Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada at two separate occasions.

It all started in the 3rd over when Sharma dismissed Rayudu by banging the ball short, halfway down the track. It was a simple catch for skipper Shreyas Iyer who was standing at mid-off. Right after this, Watson and Ishant exchanged a few words. The pacer didn’t seem happy about it and went straight towards Watson. The Delhi Capitals captain, Iyer pulled Ishant away to calm the situation.

The second time, it was in the 5th over when South African pacer Kagiso Rabada and Watson had a heated argument. Field umpire Marais Erasmus and Iyer once again had to intervene to start the game again.

Watson’s entertaining inning was cut short due to some brilliant glove work behind the wicket by Rishabh Pant. For his fantastic knock of 44 runs in 26 balls (4 fours and 3 sixes), Watson was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’.

At the end of the match, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting who is also currently the head coach of Delhi Capitals tried to diffuse the tension between Watson and Rabada. The group was seen having a friendly conversation with a few laughs during the post-match presentation.
