Australia’s Matthew Wade took a stunning catch in the Sheffield Shield during Tasmania’s match against New South Wales at Blundstone Arena in Hobart on Wednesday.
During the 35th over of NSW innings, opener Daniel Hughes edged a Jackson Bird delivery straight to the slip cordon.
Alex Doolan, who was positioned at second slip, almost took the catch but somehow the ball wriggled through his fingers. Subsequently, Wade – stationed at first slip – displayed remarkable reflexes to complete an unbelievable catch.
The Tasmanian skipper dived to his left to take an extraordinary one-handed grab and salvaged the situation.
“What a catch that was at first slip,” one commentator exclaimed.
“Well call Matthew Wade Superman,” another added.
“Doolan should have got that one but just the reflexes of the wicketkeeper who is now at first slip… I call him Superman and there’s a good reason why. Matthew Wade does it all!”
