WATCH: MS Dhoni’s valuable advice helps Kuldeep Yadav to clean up Glenn Maxwell

Despite all that he has done for India, MS Dhoni has been doubted after almost every failed innings and consequently, he has to prove himself every time he steps onto the field. The second ODI against Australia in Nagpur was no different as after failing with the bat, he spoon-fed Kuldeep Yadav to get the big and timely wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

The match was evenly poised when the chinaman came on to bowl the 29th over of the second innings. This was the period when the hosts had just squeezed the run-scoring a bit. The ball was turning and the consecutive dot balls were adding the pressure on the batsmen. Maxwell was also looking restless after playing a plethora of deliveries for scoring just four runs.

In the meanwhile, during the over, Dhoni could be heard on the stump mic pacifying Kuldeep by shouting: “Yeh maarne ki koshish kar raha hai… dalte reh” (He is trying to hit, keep hitting at the same place). Kuldeep, like an obedient student, did exactly that.

He delivered the next ball right in the middle of the pitch as Maxwell’s eyes lit up who went for the pull. But the shot selection was completely wrong given the nature of the pitch and the stumps of the batsmen were shattered.

After the dismissal, Dhoni signalled at Kuldeep gesturing “Told you!”

Maxwell’s wicket also helped the Men in Blue gain an upper hand in the match and they eventually went on to win the thriller by eight runs.
