In the first T20I between South Africa and Sri Lanka played at the Newlands on Tuesday, David Miller performed the wicketkeeping duties for the home team, despite regular wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock being present in the playing XI.
The experiment, however, did not backfire for the Proteas, who saw Miller complete one good catch and effect one stumping. Though, the stand-in keeper endured an embarrassing moment with the gloves which brought laughter on the face of De Kock.
At one moment of time during Sri Lanka’s innings, when an easy low throw was aimed towards Miller, he failed to bend down enough and let the ball go past him. It was a schoolboy error and for De Kock that moment turned out to be hilarious, to stay the least.
Standing near the boundary rope, the cameras caught De Kock chuckling as he tried to hide his laughter following the silly mistake by Miller.
