WATCH: Suresh Raina’s brilliance to run-out Shimron Hetmyer in the IPL 2019 opener

Chennai Super Kings crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on Saturday night and opened their account in the points table.

Kedar Jadhav was unbeaten on 13 and Ravindra Jadeja not out on six as CSK chased down the mere target with 14 balls to spare. Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir claimed three wickets each as the hosts bundled out the visitors for a paltry 70 runs after opting to bowl.

During the match, Super Kings vice-captain Suresh Raina also displayed his magic in the field to run-out the RCB debutant Shimron Hetmyer. On the last ball of the eighth over – bowled by Harbhajan – Hetmyer tapped the ball to the off-side and charged for a single; however, there was no response from his partner Parthiv Patel.

Raina at cover quickly collected the ball and gave it to wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, who knocked off the bails leaving Hetmyer stranded in the middle. The southpaw got out without scoring a run after facing two deliveries.
