Sri Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga has returned to India and joined the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of their IPL clash against the Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old pacer was seen bowling in the nets on Tuesday evening after returning from Sri Lanka.
Malinga, who has played three matches and picked up three wickets so far this season, was forced to fly back to his country to take part in the Super Provincial One-day tournament.
The Provincial tournament is important as the Sri Lankan 15-man squad for the 2019 ICC World Cup will be announced soon.
The Sri Lankan ace, who took three wickets against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before flying home and took seven wickets for his domestic side in less than 12 hours later.
Malinga, who was the captain of team Galle, picked up a total of eight wickets in three matches to take his side to the final of the tournament.
The veteran seamer, who is likely to team up with the Windies fast bowling sensation Alzarri Joseph against Ravichandran Ashwin-led KXIP side on Wednesday, will be heading back to Sri Lanka after the match.
