Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed up South African left-arm pacer Beuran Hendricks as a replacement for the injured Alzarri Joseph for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Hendricks has previously been a part of King XI Punjab’s set-up in IPL.
The West Indian pacer Joseph was picked as a replacement by the franchise for Adam Milne and went on to make a dramatic entry into the tournament with a record-breaking spell of six for 12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
However, he sustained an injury on his right arm during MI’s game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on April 13, which ruled him out of the tournament.
Hendricks, the 28-year-old, has played 64 T20s, claiming 89 scalps at an average of just over 20. He has also played two ODIs and 10 T20Is for South Africa.
MI takes on CSK in its next encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.
