Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets with 5 overs to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.
With this win, SRH has returned to the top four, meanwhile, for KKR, this was their fifth consecutive defeat and their IPL 2019 campaign is now in tatters.
David Warner (67 off 38 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (80 not out off 43) put on their fourth 100+ stand of the season to thrash KKR. No KKR bowler was spared by the duo, but Sunil Narine (0/34 in 4 overs) and debutant Prithvi Raj Yarra (1/29 in 3 overs) were the bright spots for the visitors.
After put into bat first, KKR scored 159/8 in their 20 overs. Sunil Narine (25 off 8 balls) launched an onslaught to give the visitors a great start, but eventually fell to Khaleel Ahmed (3/33), who also soon accounted for the wicket of Shubman Gill. He came back into the attack towards the end to dismiss Chris Lynn (51), who played the role of the sheet anchor for KKR. Lynn and Rinku Singh (30 off 25 balls) added a 51-run partnership in the middle overs.
Andre Russell (15) hit two big sixes towards the end but perished in trying to hit a third.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
And… before we could finish typing, @jbairstow21 hits two back-to-back sixes and finishes off in style once again!

Day in, Day out. @davidwarner31 gives everything on the field that he can for the @SunRisers. Incredible commitment, so consistent season after season. Plenty for others to learn. #IPL2019

These two, Warner and Bairstow are at it again. Demoralising for the youngsters in the #KKR team. Feel for Cariappa.

SRH becomes the 5th #IPL side to win a match by 5 or more overs to spare while chasing a target of 150+
MI & KKR have done it twice, while DCh, RR and now SRH have done it once!
MI's 195/5 in 14.4 overs v RR (189/4) in 2014 is the highest!#IPL2019#SRHvKKR— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) April 21, 2019
SRH have registered 100+ opening partnerships 10 times in the IPL.
David Warner has been involved in all 10 100+ opening partnerships (6 with Dhawan and 4 with Bairstow)

Last season, DK was instrumental in #KKR’s rise. Unfortunately, he isn’t pulling his weight in the side this season. Not enough runs. In the last few games, tactically a little off the mark too… #IPL

David Warner and Johnny Bairstow know some serious 'cheatcodes'. They just keep redeeming them from time to time. #SRHvKKR #SRH

Chris Lynn's 45-ball fifty today is the slowest of his 31 fifty-plus scores in the Twenty20 format. His previous slowest was off 42 balls vs RCB in 2018. #SRHvKKR #IPL2019

Dominating win for SRH and plenty to think for KKR. They did make few strategical errors in last few games…
