IPL 2019 – WATCH: Chris Gayle kicks the ball into the boundary; KXIP cheerleaders burst into laughter

It is not often the case when the Windies cricketer Chris Gayle gives a chase to the ball running towards the boundary. The southpaw is not at the top of his fitness as he is 39 years old and generally likes to stroll on the ground while running between the wickets as well as fielding.

However, it was an IPL clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab during which Gayle went to chase the ball till it reached the boundary.

The incident occurred in the 18th over of first innings when KXIP spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman came in to bowl his last one. Kane Williamson was at strike when Rahman bowled the first delivery of the over. The SRH skipper hit the ball towards backward point and the ‘Universe Boss’ started chasing it.

Gayle tried to stop the ball with his feet but ended up kicking it towards the boundary. The KXIP cheerleaders sitting at the back could not hold their laughter and burst into one when they saw the funniest misfield of the season.

Meanwhile, KXIP lost the crucial tie against SRH by 45 runs. Chris Gayle couldn’t contribute with his bat as he was dismissed for just 4 runs. KL Rahul was the highest run scorer for the visiting team – 79 runs off 56 balls.

SRH opener David Warner won the man of the match award for his sensational 56-ball 81.
