Delhi Capitals overseas player Colin Ingram pulled off a remarkable one-handed pull-back to dismiss Kings XI Punjab’s swashbuckling opening batsman Chris Gayle at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.
In the 12th over of first innings, Gayle was batting on 69 and looked all set to score big. Attempting to hit his sixth six of the innings Gayle went after Delhi leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.
However, the overspin on the ball got the toe end off Gayle’s bat and almost crossed the boundary rope at deep mid-wicket. But Ingram showed sensational fitness and poise to leap in the air and pull back the ball after it looked like it had gone for a maximum.
Since the momentum was taking him over the boundary, Ingram threw the ball inside to Axar Patel near long-on. The back hand flick was equally perfect as Axar completed the catch. Just the ball before that Lamichhane was hit for a monstrous 97-meter six by Gayle.
