Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya played one of the greatest counter-attacking innings in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) but failed to save his team from a 34-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
En-route his swashbuckling knock of 91 runs off just 34 deliveries, Hardik slammed the fastest fifty of IPL 2019.
Among his 9 sixes and 6 fours, one shot in particular continued to be the talking point even after the match.
Hardik pulled off a perfect helicopter shot on the bowling of KKR left-arm pacer Harry Gurney in the 13th over of MI’s innings. Gurney bowled it full around the off stump and Pandya shuffled, used his wrists and timed the helicopter shot to perfection. The ball landed well over the deep mid-wicket boundary.
