IPL 2019: WATCH – MS Dhoni hits the stumps directly to run-out KL Rahul, but bails still don’t fall (CSK vs KXIP)

MS Dhoni is one of the bravest players of the game and fortune favours the brave. However, on Saturday, it seemed luck wasn’t in favour of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain.

During the Match 18 of IPL 2019, the Super Kings were denied the wicket of Kings XI Punjab opener KL Rahul even after Dhoni caught him short of the crease and hit the stumps directly with his throw.

The incident happened in the 13th over of the second innings when Ravindra Jadeja was into the attack against Rahul. The right-handed batsman pushed the ball towards the on-side as the ball rolled outside the pitch. Rahul looked for a quick single and was well outside his crease before he changed his mind. But Dhoni had by then reached out for the ball and within a blink of an eye flicked it back as the ball hit the stumps.

Perfect throw, the stumps hand gone red, Rahul was still far behind the crease, but the bails weren’t dislodged. Rahul survived while Jadeja was left in complete disbelief.

However, despite this, CSK defeated KXIP by 22 runs at their home ground – MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With this win, CSK has reached to the top off the charts in IPL standings.

Faf Du Plessis and MS Dhoni’s knocks of 54 and unbeaten 37 respectively enabled CSK to post 160 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs after opting to bat first. Chasing a total of 161, the visitors could reach only to 138 for 5 in their 20 overs.
