IPL 2019: WATCH – MS Dhoni survives after the ball hits the stump but bails remain intact (CSK vs RR)

After losing three early wickets, it was a display of some intelligent batting by the Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, taking his team to a fighting score of 175/5 in 20 overs. In the end, CSK managed to defeat Rajasthan Royals in a close encounter (winning by 8 runs), registering their third victory of the season.

For his brilliant knock of 75 runs in 46 balls (4 sixes and 4 fours), Dhoni was chosen the ‘Man of the Match‘.

We wanted to get a partnership going, that was needed. We knew there was some dew on the field. We knew it would get easier as the game progresses. We bat quite deep, until 9. We could accelerate in the last few overs, and we wanted to get a partnership going at that time“, said Dhoni during the post-match presentation.

Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane was disappointed after the loss, team’s third defeat in a row. He praised MS Dhoni and CSK bowling attack saying “We started off really well in the first ten overs, but what cost us were the last five overs. When MS bats it is very difficult for the bowlers“.

Earlier, Dhoni got lucky when he faced his second ball, batting on zero. During the 5th over of the inning, Dhoni tried to defend Jofra Archer’s delivery off the back foot. The ball trickled back and hit the stump but couldn’t dislodge the bails.
