IPL 2019: Sunrisers Hyderabad qualify for the Playoffs as Mumbai Indians trash Kolkata Knight Riders in last qualifier match

In the last qualifier game of the season on Sunday, Mumbai Indians easily defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets with 3.5 overs remaining. With 18 points and a better net run-rate, Mumbai Indians ended up at the top of the IPL Points Table.

It was a must-win game for KKR in order to qualify for the Playoffs, but they failed to put up a fighting total on the board. This also resulted in Sunrisers Hyderabad to move forward to the Playoffs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. After a good start, KKR failed to score runs in the middle over and ended up with just 133 runs in their 20 overs.

For Mumbai Indians, it was the pace attack who did all the damage. Lasith Malinga grabbed 3 wickets whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya picked 2 wickets each.

It was a pretty comfortable chase for Mumbai Indians, reaching the target in 16.1 overs with just one wicket down.

They will play against Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the ‘Qualifier 1‘ on 7th May at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
