Suresh Raina struck a fighting half-century before MS Dhoni provided a late flourish as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) overcame a slow start to post a competitive 179 for four against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Chepauk stadium on Wednesday.
Raina (59) and Faf du Plessis (39) added an 83 run stand for the second wicket to revive the innings after DC bowlers produced tight spells upfront.
Later, skipper MS Dhoni, who returned to the side after recovering from a bout of fever, and Ravindra Jadeja added some quick runs to provide a late push to the innings.
Dhoni scored unbeaten 44 off 22 balls with four boundaries and three maximums while Jadeja smashed 25 off 10 with two sixes.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
2 runs in the first 2 overs. And 179 in the end. Just the MSD things. The 10 ball 25 run knock of Jadeja was gold dust too. #CSKvDC #IPL

This was no Unadkat or Yadav, this was Trent Boult in the final over that Dhoni took to the cleaners. 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏#CSKvDC

You might think these are not enough for #CSK but if there is no dew batting can become difficult. Chinna Thalai, Raina, looking like the player we have known in the #IPL

I think they have enough now. Wow, #CSK know when to turn it on!! No dew to speak of, so this pitch will deteriorate as the game goes on. https://t.co/mkwuO9F9wQ
