MS Dhoni scored quickfire runs and claimed crucial stumpings to guide the defending champions Chennai Super Kings to victory in their top of the table IPL clash with Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk stadium on Wednesday.
Dhoni hit 44 off 22 balls and Ravindra Jadeja smashed 25 off 10 balls as the Super Kings came alive in the final six overs of their innings to make 179-4.
Later, the CSK skipper stumped his counterpart Shreyas Iyer, just as he posed a major threat on 44. It was one of two key stumpings and a catch that he took as CSK spinners took control. Delhi Capitals, who led the table at the start of the game, collapsed to 99 all out and an 80-run defeat.
Dhoni’s massive hit leaves Sakshi celebrating
To give a perfect touch to the CSK innings, MS Dhoni hit the last two balls, bowled by the Delhi pacer Trent Boult, for massive sixes. On the first six, Dhoni’s wife Sakshi, who was sitting near the dug-out, jumped in joy and celebrated the moment with her friends.
