ICC World Cup 2019: Sania Mirza congratulates ‘unpredictable’ Pakistan for their win over England

Pakistan lived up to their ‘unpredictable’ tag by beating World No. 1 England, in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match on Monday, just three days after losing to World No. 8 West Indies in their first game of the tournament.

An aggressive Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan turned up at Trent Bridge to deservedly beat the tournament’s hot favourites England by 14 runs.

It was in marked contrast to Pakistan’s seven-wicket humiliation by the West Indies at the same venue on Friday.

After Pakistan’s thrilling win, the Twitteratis erupted and shared the news on the micro-blogging website.

Even Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik’s wife and Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza took to Twitter and congratulated the Men in Green for their superb performance.

“Congratulations to Team Pakistan on bouncing back the way they did and being as unpredictable like it always is !!! @cricketworldcup got more interesting than it already was,” she wrote in her message.

After posting an emphatic total of 348/8 in 50 overs, Pakistan saw experienced pacers Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz put on a brilliant exhibition with the ball as the duo shared five wickets between them. Joe Root (107) and Jos Buttler (103) scored centuries apiece to ensure England remained in the contest before the Pakistani bowlers pulled things back in the death overs to restrict the hosts at 334/9 in 50 overs.
