CWC 2019: New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham makes special request to Indian fans ahead of the World Cup final

New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has requested the Indian fans to be “kind” and “resell” their tickets on ICC’s official platform in case they don’t want to come to the final match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup at Lord’s in London on Sunday (July 14).

The final match will be played between New Zealand and hosts England.

There were heartbreaking scenes for the Indian fans at the Old Trafford in Manchester when New Zealand won the first semi-final by 18 runs. Many hoped that Virat Kohli and his men would definitely be a part of the final. Thus, the aficionadi even purchased tickets for the final assuming that their team would lift the trophy once again. However, to their dismay, that didn’t happen. Given the current circumstances, Neesham made a special request to the Indian fans.

“Dear Indian cricket fans. If you don’t want to come to the final anymore then please be kind and resell your tickets via the official platform. I know it’s tempting to try to make a large profit but please give all genuine cricket fans a chance to go, not just the wealthy,” wrote Neesham in his tweet.

Recently, the ICC came out with a ‘return policy’ wherein fans can get a full refund if they return their tickets.

Neesham’s performance so far in the tournament

James Neesham has batted in 7 innings out of the 9 games that New Zealand played in the ongoing World Cup. He scored 213 runs at an average just above 35 and has got a high-score of 97 not out. With the ball, he has picked up 12 wickets including a five-wicket haul and is quite economical.
