England opener Jason Roy honoured to receive Test Cap from Sir Alastair Cook

Jason Roy has revealed that he was on cloud nine after getting his Test cap from England’s batting legend batsman Sir Alastair Cook. The young gun was excited to make his Test debut through the match against Ireland.

He also took to Twitter to express his excitement:

Roy contributed 5 and 72 runs with the bat in the two innings of the only Test match against the Irish team. Besides, he also amassed 443 runs in 7 innings at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Cricket experts were all in praise for the young lad. England coach Trevor Bayliss said that Roy is a good prospect. He can stabilize the top order – a major drawback for the England Test side “for the last six or seven years”.

England and Australia will lock horns in the Ashes series from August 1 to September 16.

England’s 14-man Test squad:

Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Joe Denly, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes (vc), Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
