Before the start of Ashes 2019, Australian legend Steve Waugh said Cameron Bancroft is the best short-leg fielder he has ever seen. And on Thursday (August 15), Bancroft proved why Waugh went gaga over him.
The 26-year-old took a breathtaking catch to dismiss England opener Rory Burns in the first innings of the ongoing second Test at Lord’s.
Burns must have thought he was safe after he sliced a Pat Cummins delivery in the air. The ball did not stay in the air for long and was also at the left-hand of Bancroft. Not a single England supporter present in the stadium would have expected the young Aussie fielder to pull off the catch.
However, Bancroft went on to take a blinder and left everyone shellshocked.

That Cam Bancroft catch is probably the best close in catch I’ve ever seen. Supports my theory that he’s only in the team for his bat pad work. Any runs he gets is a bonus. #Ashes2019
