Things haven’t gone quite right for David Warner. He contributed only 2 and 8 runs in the two innings of the 1st Ashes Test Match.
To add to that, the Australian opener, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft found themselves amid a hostile environment. The English crowd heavily booed them.
Even though Smith’s brilliantly crafted century silenced the boos, for the time being, Warner continued to face savage ridicule and mockery.
However, on Saturday, when he was fielding near the stand, the crowd was heard shouting – “He’s got sandpaper in his hands!” And boy, Warner’s response was just epic!
He showed them that there was nothing in his palms and emptied his pockets too. The boo-boys had no option but to stop as the crowd gave him a huge round of applause.

Whenever Warner and Bancroft came out to open the innings, the crowd waved sandpapers and greeted them with a poster that read, ‘Aussies Cheats.’
Warner may have won over the Edgbaston crowd, but he is yet to make his willow do the talking.
As far as Smith is concerned, he is in the form of his life, scoring back-to-back centuries for Australia and putting England under pressure.
