CAC reappoint Ravi Shastri as Team India’s Head Coach, Twitter shows mixed reactions

Ravi Shastri will continue as Team India’s for another two years as the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), headed by Kapil Dev picked the former Indian captain for the job after conducting interviews in Mumbai on Friday.

Shastri has been reappointed till the 2021 T20 World Cup in India.

This will be Shastri’s fourth stint with the national team. He served briefly as the Cricket Manager (2007 tour of Bangladesh), Team Director (2014-2016) and head coach (2017-2019).

Shastri pipped former India teammates Lalchand Rajput and Robin Singh as well as former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson and Australia’s Tom Moody to the role. Former West Indies and Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons pulled out of the race, citing personal reasons.

“Definitely no. 3 is Tom Moody, number 2 is Mike from New Zealand (very intelligent, very good, young boy) and no. 1 is Ravi Shastri which you all were expecting,” said Kapil Dev while announcing the decision.
