Cricket fraternity congratulates PV Sindhu on winning India’s first-ever gold in a World Badminton Championship

Ace shuttler PV Sindhu achieved an extraordinary feat in Basel, Switzerland. She became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the BWF World Championship, thus making her country proud.

Having been a ‘silver girl’ in the last two years, the 24-year-old finally got her gold with a phenomenal performance against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara. Sindhu beat Okuhara in straight games by 21-7, 21-7 in just 38 minutes.

From Sachin Tendulkar to VVS Laxman, the entire cricket fraternity lauded the badminton champ’s historic achievement.

Tendulkar tweeted –

“Amazing performance, @Pvsindhu1!
Congratulations on becoming the 1st ever 🇮🇳 to win the BWF World Championships!

Laxman wrote –

“Congrats @Pvsindhu1 on winning the Gold medal at #BWFWorldChampionships2019 Great exhibition of skill, fitness and mental strength to defeat Japan’s Okuhara in such an emphatic fashion. Proud of you.”
