CPL 2019: Trinbago Knight Riders post highest total ever in franchise T20 cricket history

Trinbago Knight Riders posted the highest ever total in CPL history which is also incidentally the highest ever total in franchise cricket in the format on Friday (September 13) as their batsmen went on a rampage to score 267 runs in their stipulated 20 overs against Jamaica Tallawahs.

In reply, the Tallawahs put up a fight but a target of 268 was too much to ask for as the home side lost by 41 runs.

For the Knight Riders, New Zealand batsman Colin Munro smashed an unbeaten 96 off 50 deliveries while Lendl Simmons scored 86 from 42 deliveries. Captain Kieron Pollard finished off the innings with a 17-ball 45. In doing so, TKR went on to break Royal Challengers Bangalore’s T20 record, set back in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013.

The TKR’s total of 267 runs is also the second-highest T20 score ever in the history of the game. The summit position is held jointly by Afghanistan and Czech Republic who both had scored 278 runs against Ireland and Turkey respectively.

Brief Scores:

Trinbago Knight Riders 267 for 2 (Munro 96*, Simmons 86, Pollard 45*) beat Jamaica Tallawahs 226 for 5 (Phillips 62, Hasnain 2-51) by 41 runs.
