“I will remain a Dhoni fan forever”: MS Dhoni’s superfan Saravanan Hari

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has a huge fan following around the world. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Dhoni has been out of action lately, and there have been rumors regarding his retirement.

Recently, ICC published a video interview with MS Dhoni’s superfan, Saravanan Hari.

“When Dhoni won the 2011 World Cup for us, I wanted to do something to show our gratitude. Since I am a local boy, I started going to the Chennai Super King’s matches, painting my body yellow,” explained Hari.

“Retirement is inevitable, like death, like day and night. I know he will definitely retire one day,” told Hari.

“It will be a tough moment for fans like me. I will remain a Dhoni fan forever. I will like by the rule that he taught me. I will cheer for the teams that he backs. I will try to be a good example of a Dhoni fan,” he added.

Hari also described his first meeting with Dhoni. “It was in 2013. I was at Bhubaneswar airport when I got a call from an event organizer to attend a promotional function. They told me to paint my body and later said that Dhoni would be attending the event.

“All of a sudden, the man himself was in front of me, within touching distance. I was speechless and immediately I fell at his feet. I really can’t describe the moment in words. It’s the most memorable moment of my life,” said Hari.
